How to use the Subscription feature. (Great for newsletter vendors.)

For people who sell subscriptions to newsletters or magazines, JAYA will help you keep track of who expires when.

You enter a product on the Product screen in the normal way. Give it a name and a price (the subscription rate).

When you enter an order for a customer, when you Add A New Detail, you will see an entry box called “Expire Date mm-dd-yyyy”. (Note that there is a HELP link you can click.) Enter the date that the subscription to this item will expire. (Don’t forget to click “update” and then COMMIT to save the order the database!)

You can run the Subscription Expire report to see who expires between whatever dates you choose. You can also run the Customer Product report to select and see orders that have items that will expire. Anohter feature is that you can download an ascii file for people who will expire and put this file into your word processor and do a mail merge (the name of the product is also downloaded in the file!!). You can also output address labels based on the expire date. Finally, you can print a batch of invoices using the expire date as a selection.

When the customer tells you that they will re-subscripe, you can bring up the OLD order and click the Duplicate button and make an exact copy of it. Then go in and make changes to dates, payments, etc. and send them a bill or a receipt.

We think you will find the Subscription feature of JAYA to be very helpful if you are in the business of selling information on a time-limited basis.

Non-information (newsletter) vendors can use the “expire date” as a reminder for when to contact customers for additional sales, follow-up, etc.
